1. National IT Policy 2000
- The Government of Nepal introduced the National Information Technology Policy to establish a foundation for the use of ICT in governance and development.
2. Telecommunications Act 1997
- Although predating the e-governance boom, this Act paved the way for the liberalization of telecom services, facilitating ICT growth critical for e-governance.
3. e-Governance Master Plan (2006-2010)
- Nepal adopted the first e-Governance Master Plan (EGMP) to modernize administrative processes and introduce ICT solutions in government offices. Key goals included automation, improved service delivery, and transparency.
4. Introduction of e-Procurement (2008)
- The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) launched Nepal’s Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system to streamline government procurement processes and reduce corruption.
5. Digital Signature Act (2008)
